Crate Training

Here is a few basic facts about the crate training.

1) It is very difficult to raise a happy, well adjusted dog without a crate--consider trying to raise a child without a crib.
2) In the first few months at a new home, too much area or space is very stressful for the new puppy; they actually prefer small cozy areas like their crate.
3) Preferred crate is the plastic type with wire mesh door; "open wire" crates can be modified by draping the sides and rear.
4) Most new pups are obtained at 2-3months of age and should realistically spend more time in than out of the crate until they are 6 months of age.
5) Crate training is effective in potty training, controlling your new puppy's teething behavior, and is very important  to help produce the very desired "nested" puppy.
6) Very important to remember : anytime you are not in direct supervision of your new puppy, be it is crated.
